I called to set up a meeting with our old/new caseworker today. Since I've been getting lots of questions about where we are on the list, both here and IRL I figured, what the hey, it's been 2 months so why hold out another few weeks when we meet?
We've moved up 4 spots since the last update. Now we're at a blazing pace of 2 spots per month and 1.79 spots per month overall. If you recall in the original math we were at the poky pace of 1.75 spots per month.
If it holds steady through attrition and placements that we're moving at 2 spots per month then we've got about 4.5 months before we're number 12 and most of the matching happens in the first 12 on the list.
Holy shit that's mid-December! Damn, now I really don't know what to do about ski passes. Argh, only have until September 7th to decide before the prices go up.
Of course, just because we get to number 12 doesn't mean we'll magically get placement within weeks. It could still take a really long time! Anything can happen. Why do I do this to myself?
Hi Geochick! I've recently discovered your blog, and can relate to so much of what you discuss. I am also waiting, waiting, waiting...and trying to predict or understand when something might happen is enough to drive a person crazy. I have my fingers crossed that you match soon.

ReplyDeleteYeah! I love hearing about progress! I vote for ski passes too! You can at least enjoy them until baby comes and if baby comes early you'll be too tired and happy to remember you wasted the money.
