What the hell is a hostile uterus? Why the hell can't fucking medical shows at least get terminology right if they're going to talk about infertility? They could at least let the character have more "trouble" getting pregnant before jumping to the infertility diagnosis after one m/c. Argh. Oh, wait, doctors can't watch the show without cringing about every 30 seconds right? I only recognize the infertility issue because I live it. Anyhoo, I'm switching over to Comm.unity. Screw this.

Hi, um, well, perhaps I should have kept watching the show that night. I skimmed a recap of the show and later on Mer.ideth says it's fibroids, baby-squashing fibroids to be exact. Still, a doctor wouldn't use the term hostile uterus. Perhaps hostile uterine enviroment, but not hostile uterus. They hem and haw so damn much, I mean mine just kept parroting statistics in relation to mild endometriosis and getting pregnant. (btw, I totally should have gotten pg if endo is my only problem). Anyway, I'm willing to take the bet that Mer. ends up happily pregnant at the season finale....and perhaps I'll keep watching. Maybe. I'm finding Vam.pire Dia.ries more my speed these days - total high school fantasy ridiculousness!
Yep, my antenna went up last week. I am thinking this might be another show I have to stop watching (ah la how I met your mother). I mean it's tv, of course there is going to be a happy ending. UGH! At least use a *real* diagnosis!

ReplyDeleteWhat happened on HIMYM? I totally told Keith that they were going to do an infertility plot with a magical happy ending, but I haven't watched the last two episodes...
Rules of Engagement also is running an infertility plot. They'd decided on a surrogate, but that didn't work (very funny plot, actually). Then they tried IVF, but she didn't like the way the drugs made her feel. Now they're thinking adoption...but of all TV shows, they seem to be dealing with it the most realistically.

ReplyDeleteoh yuck...but seriously, i thought hostile uterus was really a thing after watching friends! (our IF never brought us down that path because we had severe MF) yes, i'm cringing while watching how i met your mother, too. i'm sticking to 30 rock.
