Stands for El N-ino Sou-thern Oscill-ation. According to a hydrologist in my building, it's a strong year for El Ni-no and that's why back east is getting hammered yet I curse because there's no damn snow in our mountains.
Thanks buddy, love ya'.
I would like to point out that the latest ski reports show that NO Sum-mit County/Ea-gle County resorts are showing more than a 35 inch base (except Bre-ck). So, as we go merrily shush-shussing down an expert run there's the occasional *oooof! Rock!* yell from down below. Some runs have so many trees that we play dodge-the tree tops. There has been exactly 1 powder day and 1 quasi-powder day and the rest has been crap-tastic. Last weekend at Brec-kenridge we were on the 6-chair (expert terrain) and laughed hysterically on the lift ride at the bare spots, the sheer ice where apparently some runoff has begun and then cursed waiting in line as we picked our way through said obstacles. Oh, and I must mention that I have now skied Breck-enridge 3 times already this winter and I don't even like the mountain but at least it's not a sheet of ice like Key-stone. *grumble grumble*
Meanwhile, freaking Mary-land is getting feet and feet of snow.
*sigh*
I sure am bitchy this week...
I tried out Hot Yoga this morning. I didn't put 2 and 2 together and forgot a towel! I do believe I sweat more than I have ever sweat before and I slid off my mat. Armed with a towel next week, I'm sure it'll be much better.
**edit cause I want to toot my own horn**
I'm awesome, I donated blood today. Since we don't travel to Mex-ico as often as we used to I can finally be more consistent. Today I almost passed out. This is why I don't donate every 2 months but at least I do a couple times a year!
You know - I think also, in an el nino year, we typically have a dry period in dec/jan/feb, and then it comes back. That's what I think might happen anyway. So, maybe March and April will be very snowy!
ReplyDeleteSorry, don't mean to rub it in...we're also getting your snow here in Philly. You can have it! I can't ski and I hate the cold. We've had two 2-foot snowfalls in less than a week. We're not used to this...at all. Hope you get snow soon. I just hope it doesn't hit us again.
ReplyDeleteI just found you through Rebecca's Road Less Traveled blog. Are you still doing hot yoga? I got into it last year and absolutely love it!! I post about it sometimes... I did last week and now you're making me want to post about it again! :)
